Cambodian 2023 General Elections

Cambodia is set to hold its seventh General Elections on 23rd July this year. In the running for seats in the National Parliament are nine political parties, including the long-standing ruling party, the Cambodia People's Party (CPP), and the main opposition party, the Candlelight Party (CP). Both the CPP and the CP have diametrically opposing political agendas and policies and the party that emerges victorious from the elections will play a pivotal role in determining the country's direction for the next five years.

The National Elections Committee (NEC) is instrumental in the upcoming elections. Based on the NEC's recently issued directive, they have laid the framework for how the upcoming elections will be held. In order to achieve a free and fair election, participating political parties should adhere to these regulations and safeguard the basic principles of the electoral process.
