Ibu Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo is a seasoned politician and passionate social activist. She currently holds several political appointments including deputy chairperson of Gerindra, chairperson of Tunas Indonesia Raya (“TIDAR”), chairperson of the political women caucus, and expert board member of the women parliamentary caucus. She is also the founder of Parinama Astha, a non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting human trafficking within Indonesia.
In November 2023, Aletheia Asia had the privilege to spend an afternoon with Ibu Sara in Jakarta to gain a deeper understanding of her motivations which led her to champion various political and social causes. Ibu Sara discussed her thoughts on increasing awareness about anti-human trafficking in Indonesia and her hopes for Indonesia in the coming presidential term.
